Season of Fasting - Daniel Fast
February 6th - 15th, 2008

The three (3) duties of Christians include the following:

  • Giving – tithes, offerings, gifts and talents
  • Praying – communication with God
  • Fasting – sacrifice unto the Lord

These three (3) duties serve as a threefold cord that is not easily broken.  As we combine our Christian responsibilities we shall see the power of God released upon us.

Truths about Fasting

  • Allows participants to resist evil including the devil
  • Allows participants to call upon the power of God to rebuke the enemy
  • Releases strength and power to God’s people
  • Brings believers into a deeper and more intimate relationship with God
  • Removes clutter in the lives of believers from the things of the world
  • Sensitizes believers to the things and nature of God

Selected Fasts

  • Daniel Fast – All MMCC Members

A ten (10) day fast for all MMCC members for the spiritual, mental and physical healing of our ministry and church family beginning on Wednesday, February 6th – Ash Wednesday and concluding on Friday, February 15th.

During this ten (10) day fast, we can eat only foods grown from the ground including fruits and vegetables and drink only purified or distilled water, broth and juices throughout the day.

Daniel subjected himself and his fellow three friends to a period of fasting eating only vegetables and fruits so that they could demonstrate God’s perfect healing and strength.

  • Esther Fast – MMCC Leadership

A three (day) fast only for the Prayer Warriors, Pastor, Assistant Pastors, Elders, Deacons, and Deaconesses to participate immediately following the Daniel Fast, Saturday, February 16th – Monday, February 18th.  All MMCC members are invited to participate, but this fast is only required of the Church Leadership members.  The purpose of the Esther Fast is for divine protection from satanic attacks and to serve as a covering for our Pastor and the Church Leadership.

During this three (3) day fast, we cannot consume anything by the mouth between the hours of 6AM – 6PM.  In the event that participants require strength during the fasting hours, please drink purified or distilled water.

Esther and her people participated in an intense fasting and praying period for protection from future attacks.

Fasting Scriptures

  • Joel 1:14 “Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD.”
  • Matthew 6:16 – 18 “Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.”
  • Psalm 42:1 – 3 “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?”
  • Matthew 17:20 – 21 “And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”
  • Isaiah 58:6 – 8 “Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.”
  • Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
